SCICEX 1993 Surface CTD Profiles USS Pargo (SSN-650) August-September 1993 NSF Grant Number OCE-9313709 These data are the 20 surface CTD casts from SCICEX 1993, the Arctic Ocean scientific cruise of the USS Pargo during August-September 1993. The instrument was an Sea-Bird SBE 19, which was lowered from the open deck while surfaced. Each ASCII file begins with six header lines including time (GMT) and position. The following data are five space-delimited columns: 1. Pressure (decibars) 2. Temperature (¡C) 3. Conductivity (Siemens/meter) 4. Salinity (ppt) 5. Density (Sigma-theta) There is a data line approximately every one meter (decibar) of depth (pressure). There was enough cable to reach below 500 meters. Not every cast is full-depth. The first few lines of file SfcCTD01 are as follows: SCICEX 1993 Surface CTD Station: 1 Time: 08/26 12:10:57 Latitude: 89¡59.6ÕN Longitude: 146¡50.1ÕE Press Temp Cond Sal Sig-theta # 2.746 -1.6683 2.49543 31.3097 25.1785 3.746 -1.6741 2.49526 31.3129 25.1812 4.746 -1.6817 2.49500 31.3168 25.1845 5.746 -1.6825 2.49487 31.3153 25.1833 6.746 -1.6824 2.49490 31.3149 25.1830 7.746 -1.6832 2.49496 31.3160 25.1839 Direct questions to: Dr. James Morison, Principal Investigator (206) 543-1394 morison@apl.washington.edu Roger Andersen (206) 543-1258 roger@apl.washington.edu Polar Science Center Applied Physics Laboratory University of Washington 1013 NE 40th Seattle, WA 98105 USA (206) 543-6613
